Looking Forward to a New Semester

July 22, 2011

Summer Orientations are busy stressful times but they are also reminders of the excitement and enthusiasm that fill the air on university campuses across the nation. Sam Houston State is no different. Our Transfer Student Advisory Board is making plans to welcome new transfer students. Our aim is to make information about campus life more available.  Although transfer students bring alot of skills it is still a new campus and new faculty and expectations.  Although I may feel tired by the end of the summer…by the beginning of Fall I can’t help but feel energized and excited.  Let’s go!!

Housing at SHSU Fall 2011

July 20, 2011

Recently I went to apply for housing at Sam Houston. This being my first time to attempt to apply I had no idea what to expect. I was astounded to find out that female upperclassmen have been put on a waiting list since April! Sam Houston guarantees housing for freshman females, and the incoming freshman class is the largest Sam Houston has seen in years. This has caused a dilemma for me in attempting to find housing on campus. So I have resorted to searching for an apartment somewhere near the SHSU campus that is affordable and student friendly. So far the most difficult task I have come across is simply choosing where I want to live and finding roommates of course.

Independence Day

July 5, 2011

It has been another wonderful week of the summer. And this week ends on a very important occasion: the independence of our country. The 4th of July is not only a day for friends, family, fireworks, and BBQ but also a day to reflect on the pride of our country. America’s independence earned so long ago by our troops must not be forgotten. Today we are still at war and we must remember the men and women serving this great country who are deployed overseas to defend our freedom. Recognize those who wear the uniform of the armed forces and say thank you. It is because of them that we are here, enjoying this celebration of our country’s independence. Happy 4th of July!!!
